Abstract:Based on the planar circular restricted three-body problem, the nonlinear dynamics of the second order 5:3 internal mean motion resonance are studied. The eccentricity and initial location, namely the semimajor axis and phase, of the asteroid significantly affect the steady-state of the resonant orbits. The transition mechanisms are obtained for the number of the stable islands. Some typical orbits, including periodic, quasi-periodic, and chaotic ones, are obtained. Resonance spaces are generated in (θ, e, a) coordinate system, offering an intuitive visualization of stable and chaotic domains.
